I've completed reading this book this morning, and here is some of the tips taken from it.

KITCHEN ZONES

A. Cooking
Spices, oils and vinegars, cooking utensils, pots and pans, pot holders, trivets, and other tools

B. Cleaning
Centerd around the dishwasher and kitchen sink.Kitchen cleaners, under the sink items (sponges, paper towels,microfibre cloths, trash bags, dishwasher detergent), recycling bins, and trash cans.

C. Preparation
Everything needed to prep meals.
Mixing bowls, knives, cutting boards, kitchen gadgets, blender, & other appliances
Baking & school lunch stations

D. Storage
Food containers, slverware, dishes, glasses, & small appliances

E. Food
Pantry.
- designate a few cupboards or a standing cabinet in which to store items.


DINING ROOM ZONES

A. Table
Center of the room
Make sure to have the correct size to fit the room.
Small room - a smaller table when you're mot entertaining, but you can add a leaf in the middle to accomodate more guests or buffets

B. Chairs
At least six chairs and etwo extras placed to the side
When you're not entertaining, put a chair on either side of the hutch
Chairs don't necessarily have to match the table
You might like a white table and dark chairs, or mismatched antique chairs for an eclectic look.

C. Wall Decor
Fill the wall with decor that matches your style.
Vintage -An old, chipped window frame with a boxwood leaf wreath hanging from it
Classic - a gallery wall filled with framed memories or antique painting

D. Window Treatments
Blinds, curtains, drapes, or nothing at all
Measure the window before you shop
If you're going to hang curtains, the higher up you hang the rods, the taller the ceilings and windows will appear to be.

E. Centerpiece
A centerpiece warms the room and is a nice way to show off some details
A fresh flower arrangement to a beautiful vasevase
Fill a large porcelain bowl with fresh fruit.
Lay a runner down the center for a more polished look

F.Buffet
Place food for dinner parties or holiday celebrations


LIVING ROOM ZONES

A. Reading Area
Set up a reading corner in the room
A comfortable chair & lamp, with a bookshelf nearby
Display book on the shelf, organized by genre, placing the children's book at the very bottom for easy reach
Place a basket by the chair to collect newspapers & magazines for recycling

B. Media Center
Movies & DVD players, music CDs & video gaming equipment
Place game equipment into labelled baskets
Place a tray on the coffee table to store the remote controls

C. Memories & Keepsakes
Store photo albums & keepsakes neatly together on bookshelves
Replace old or mismatched photo albums

D. Toys & Hobbies
Board games, toys, playing cards, knitting projects - store in ottomans / on a shelving, inside baskets

E. Sitting area
Where you place your furniture depend on how your family uses it.
Family that loves watching television & movies - the TV or projector will be the focus of your living room
Move the sofa to face the TV - mAKE SURE THE OCCUPANTS CAN STILL CONVERSE
Family that loves card or board games around the coffee table - cluster chairs or floor cushions nearby.
Family of conversationalists - move the couch and chairs to face each other
To streamline the the space, store extra blankets or pillows out of sight.


OFFICE ZONES

A. Work Zone
Desk area
Computer, lamp, printer, tax, orgnizer, desktop files

B. Mail Zone
Organize the mail in the drawer near the work zone
Include a bin for incoming or outgoing mail
Stamps, rnveloped, address labels, packing tape, a postage scale, a stationery set

C. Bill Payment Zone
All things needed  to pay bills
The bills, a calculator,, checks,  a buget binder, account & password log

D. Filing Zone
Filing cabinet

E. Planning Zone
Calendars, personal organizers / planners,  & other supplies - inserts, stickers, washi tape, etc

F. Office Supply Zone
Extra printer paper,  printer ink, pens & pencils, staples, tape, file folders, labeler & label tape, & other office needs

G. Book Zone
Personal finance,  household planning, 

H. School Zone
School paperwork, homework station
